"validation failed" -- but no tooltip

hi all,
trying to validate a few hundreds of records in a model.... it appears that many of the "Validation failed"  statuses in $ValidationStatus$ fielddo not have a tooltip as to what caused the error, but some do.  

The SQLServer version  used is 2012 SP1 w/ Excel 2010.
