MDS Recursive Derived Hierarchy with Explicit Cap

In Master Data Services (MDS) 2014, I am trying to create a derived hierarchy with an explicit cap.  The derived hierarchy is recursive.  When I add the parent attribute (recursive attribute) I no longer see any of the explicit hierarchies to select from.
