How do I remove trailing spaces from a member Name?

We have loaded over 300 members in a leaf table within MDS.  After loading, we realised that there are trailing spaces on most of the Name values.

Trying to update the members to remove the trailing spaces does not work.  It appears that the update leaf process considers 'abc' and 'abc             ' to be identical and does not update the member values.  I have tried through batch load process, Excel plug-in and the Master Data Manager Web UI.
